1. TEAM SYNERGY


Building High Performing Teams - Duration 2 days

Objectives

Build a strong foundation of trust, purpose and collaboration resulting in a significant increase in team productivity.


Approach

  • A team effectiveness survey helps the team to understand where they are now and what is preventing high performance.
  • Personal insight into own style and the styles of others helps understand why we think, speak and behave in a certain manner. Honest conversations and feedback helps build action plans to leverage team diversity and deliver exceptional performance.
  • A collaborative and supportive team culture begins to emerge. Team members help each other be successful but also holds each other accountable for delivery.

Experience

  • More than 40 workshops conducted across factory, supply chain, marketing and sales leadership teams in Unilever South Asia including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Results

70% of factory teams delivered significantly enhanced productivity through faster decision making, collaboration and problem solving which earned these factories the Top Global Factory status of Unilever. Other teams reported increase in innovation rate and decision-making speed.



2. CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAM EFFECTIVENESS


Strengthening Cross Functional Team Effectiveness (Interface) - Duration 1 day

Objectives

Build greater cross functional alignment, collaboration and a shared purpose, enabling individuals and teams to put organisation priorities ahead of own and departmental goals.


Approach

  • Understanding the challenges of the interface, what causes a breakdown in trust, leading to frustration, bitterness and politics.
  • Defining a mutual agenda for the interface, clarity on the decision-making process, escalation, and communication.
  • Creating a strong foundation of appreciation, mitigating frustrations and agreeing a governance mechanism to sustain the positive outcomes of the workshop.

Experience

  • Workshops conducted for Global teams (Global Engineering, Global Foods comprised of mainly European nationalities) of Unilever with local interfaces (South Asian, Indian nationalities).
  • Within countries (India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan) supported Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales functions in resolving their internal conflicts and working to a common vision and shared agenda.

Results

Underlying issues at the interface sorted out. Significant increase in speed of decision making, transparent two-way communication, a firm foundation of trust and respect. Significant reduction in stress and tension led to improved workplace wellbeing.



3. COACHING SENIOR LEADERS


Coaching for High Performance, Transformation, Integration and Next role readiness

Duration – Minimum 6 sessions x 60-90 minutes each, over 3 months. Ideally 12 sessions over 9 months for best and sustained results.

Objectives

  • Enable C-suite leaders to perform effectively in current role including.
    • Improving performance of current Leaders.
    • Supporting newly promoted Leaders in making the transition successfully.
    • Supporting new Leaders (new to company or function) to effectively integrate to the Leadership Team and company/functional culture.
  • Support High Potential Senior leaders in reaching the next level – MC Readiness Coaching.


Approach

  • The coaching brief is agreed with the coachee, his/her line manager and HRBP based coachee’s development requirements.
  • The coach helps the coachee to reflect on what is required to be changed, what is working and what is not. The coachee gains insights into own limiting beliefs and habits that is holding him/her back. The coach helps the coachee with exercises and tools for better self understanding. Through regular check-ins, the coach helps to hold the coachee accountable for delivery on commitments made to oneself
  • Coaching is all about changing habits. Our habits are creations from our past, which served us and were of value in the past. We hold onto them long after they ceased to be of value. They prevent us from moving forward towards greater purpose and achievements. A coach partners and guides the coachee in this journey


Experience & Credentials

  • Certified life coach, The Life coaching academy Australia (2016): Coached over 60 Vice Presidents, Directors and Senior Managers at Unilever from 2016-2021
  • Trained by Korn Ferry as a coach for Unilever for the Standards of Leadership Assessment (SOL Coach): Have coached a combination of 15 Vice Presidents and Directors during 2020-2021.
  • Coached for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) at Unilever
    • Coached more than 45 Directors and VPs of Global Procurement (2018-2019) on their inclusive leadership based on an assessment and helped them to get greater self awareness of how others experience them and develop an action plan for improvement. The subsequent employee engagement survey (2020), showed a stunning increase of 700 bps in ‘the leadership of my organisation is inclusive’ amongst the procurement community.
  • Certified in DISC, Hogan and TetraMap profiling tools: As I am certified in the above tools, I use profiling assessment to help clients gain greater self awareness on their strengths and improvement areas
  • Mindfulness coach & practitioner for over twenty years: Trainer and coach of mindfulness, inner peace and self-awareness on a voluntary basis. Helping people to manage stress and negative states of mind


4. FIRST-TIME LINE MANAGER TRAINING


Leadership Development | Frontline Leadership Training | First-time Line Manager Training – Duration 3 days


Objectives

Building understanding and skill on what it means to be a line manager at 3 levels including Self awareness, Developing others through motivation, leading and training, and creating the right environment for team synergy and high performance.


Approach

  • Establish what it means to be a leader, increase self awareness and empathy towards own and others behavioral styles and leadership competencies, understand what motivates people and how to bring out the best in each person
  • Practice the art of giving and receiving feedback, having difficult conversations, and learn the basics of coaching
  • Develop strategies to work with difficult team members and apply principles of teamwork for high performance.

Experience

  • Conducted over 12 workshops of 3-day duration each. Received an average of 4.8 effectiveness score on a 5-point scale, and 100% advocacy for recommending others to attend the workshop based on value and usefulness.
  • Workshops were followed with monthly group coaching to ensure stickiness of the learnings and to encourage trying out different tools and techniques practiced during the workshop.

5. MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING


Mental Health Wellbeing | Emotional Wellbeing | Mental Resilience | Mindfulness


Objectives

Supporting companies to assess their current status and work through a systematic road map to establish themselves as a Mental Health Positive Company


Approach

  • Advocacy, Ownership & Accountability : Having the right people/leaders owning and supporting the cause, investing in resources and taking accountability to a measurable outcome.
  • Awareness & Communication: Addressing the ‘why’ to create an urgent call to action which will help to strengthen the advocacy, bring more people on board and reduce social stigma.
  • Resource and Support : At minimum, identifying external resources available freely, to at a high level, investing in wellbeing and mental health friendly policies and infrastructure in the workplace

Experience

  • Trained and certified as a Global Mental Health Champion for Unilever and launched Mental Health Champion training for Unilever Sri Lanka.
  • Part of the Unilever Global team working with like minded global MNCs on a Global Business Initiative (GBI) on Workplace Mental Health.
  • Trained more than 100 managers and leaders on being mental health champions for their teams and business units across countries.

Results

Increase in awareness of mental health and related issues helped employees who were hesitant to seek help, to do so and achieve both professional and personal success in life. As a HRBP, supported business units in addressing mental health issues of employees very successfully resulting in their continuing as productive and happy employees adding value to the business and to themselves



6. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EI)


Mental Health Wellbeing | Emotional Wellbeing | Mental Resilience | Mindfulness


Objectives

  • Increase self awareness in individuals to recognize and understand own and others' emotions.
  • Gain skill in managing own emotions and influence others in managing their emotions in a positive manner.

Approach

  • Practicing mindfulness for being more self aware, and developing the skill to return to equilibrium when triggered emotionally (prior to spiraling out of control/ not letting moods and feelings get the better of you).
  • Displaying more empathy when it comes to solving issues in the workplace (this naturally leads to a positive impact in the persona life as well).
  • Building strong relationships in the workplace based on mutual trust and respect, leading to greater productivity and wellbeing at work.

Experience

  • Trained and certified as a Global Mindfulness Instructor for Unilever. Conducted weekly mindfulness sessions for Global teams throughout the pandemic.
  • I have been practicing mindfulness and other related meditation techniques for the purpose of stress management for over 35 years. I continue to conduct meditation practices for greater emotional resilience and mental peace of people.

Results

Greater self awareness led emotional intelligence leads to greater peace, harmony and happiness in life. This is vouched for by all participants.



7. CONSULTATION ON STRATEGIC HR TRANSFORMATION

Approach

  • Identify the business need and partner the Strategic HR/Leadership & Culture transformation with the CEO, Head of HR and senior leaders.
  • Key focus areas include Performance Management, Talent Management including Succession Planning and Career Planning. Learning &Development, Leadership Competencies and Organisation Values definition, Coaching senior leaders on culture transformation

Experience

  • As the Chief People Officer for Hela Apparel launched a Performance Management System (PMS) and Talent Management including Succession planning, Career planning, Coaching, Mentoring and 360 feedback for senior leaders for the first time in the company history.
  • Leadership & Culture transformation through coaching and developing leaders on Equity Diversity and Inclusion at Unilever as Global HRBP.
  • Launched strategies and activities to build a Learning Culture in a Global Virtual setup linking 1500 Unilever employees across 60 countries.
  • Supported building a Physical, Emotional and Mental Wellbeing Resilient Organisation

Results

The strategy on ED&I, wellbeing and Learning were called out as best practices in Unilever, delivering business results. Employee engagement scores increased by 800bps on EDI and 700 on employee wellbeing
